Application Area

Used in organic synthesis and as a polymerization inhibitor. Used as a solvent for oils, rubber, natural resins, and polyvinyl acetate, as an alkylating agent (e.g., in the manufacture of butyl cellulose), and as an insect repellent. Used as a solvent and butylating reagent in organic synthesis. Used in the manufacture of butyl cellulose, insect repellents, celluloid, pharmaceuticals (e.g., Phenylbutazone), and pesticides (e.g., Myclobutanil).
